Come and experience Finnish Lapland at its best
Come and experience Lapland during the best time of the autumn colours and hike with Rotarian friends in the magnificent landscapes of Ylläs and Pallas. This 4-day tour organized just after the Institute is a possibility for a small group of Rotarians and friends (maximum number of participants is eight). We will go for hikes of different lengths and degrees of difficulty and familiarize ourselves with the sights and services of the area. During this week, the autumn colours are usually bright and there is a chance of seeing northern lights. The programme is as follows:
We depart from Oulu to Äkäslompolo after lunch at 14.00 on Sunday, September 13, and return to Oulu by 18.00 on Thursday, September 17. You can also take a return flight from Kittilä or from Rovaniemi (transfers will be organized). If you want to stay longer you can always take some extra days at the locations mentioned.
We are using a passenger van to easily reach different sites. We stay in an old, genuine lumberjacks’ cabin, with a great atmosphere of by-gone days. The house features bunk beds, WC, kitchen and main room, where we take breakfast. In the yard there is a sauna in a separate building. We will have our lunches outdoors and enjoy the dinners in local restaurants.
There are several hiking trails to choose from, according to one’s own taste and fitness. All the trails are well marked.
A place for the hiking trip can be reserved by paying the participation fee of 390 € when registering for the institute, and in any case by April 30, 2020. The fee includes transport from and to Oulu/Rovaniemi, accommodation, breakfasts and the services of a Rotarian guide.
